About Sunrise Africa Relief Projects
Sunrise Africa Relief chooses specific projects and areas of development so that progress and milestones can be easily measured and managed. We are careful that partners of Sunrise Africa Relief and those involved in our projects are people and organisations aligned with our goals.
Every year Sunrise Africa Relief travels as an interfaith group to Africa to view progress of projects important to us and identify areas we can help going forward. In 2016 the tour will cover Swaziland and South Africa.
A report on our 2015 annual Interfaith tour can be viewed here.
We always wish to hear from people who would be interested in joining for our 2017 tour and can fund themselves. Please don't hesitate to contact us if this interests you.
Barlastone Park School
Our biggest project in 2016/17 is providing infrastructure to allow fresh-water extraction from a water well at Barlastone Park School, Zambia. This involves drilling a 30m borehole, installation of a water tank and piping to provide fresh water for drinking supplies, toilets etc.
This is a large project requiring significant funds - we recently raised £2,300 from the Edinburgh marathon which was donated to this cause.
Work is ongoing and we recently received photos showing the progress of the borehole and water tank installation - click here to view.
